i worked at the mclane out of Rancho Cucamonga, CA. It use to be MBM but they got bought out by mclane. The work is ok, very heavy chicken boxes that weight on average 80 pounds. you will get between 6 to 8 stops a day. average 32k pounds. Every trailer is 48 ft long. All Automatics if your running local routes.if your running team runs you might get a automatic or a 10 speed manual. Pallet jacks are always running out of battery halfway through the route so you have to buy your own extension court to charge it at the stores. you have to use to a 2 wheel hand truck to roll food into the restaurant. you do all deliveries through the night. start times are between 10pm and 2am. you will average a week about 50-55 hours a week working 4 days. my take home paycheck is $1,700 every 2 weeks. Which is not good for the amount of work you do. this certain mclane is hourly only, but i heard they are going to go on component pay, which is paid per mile, per stop, per case. they said its going to get better but who knows i didnt want to stick around and wait. I needed cash for my family. Starting pay is $19 an hour. Max pay $23 an hour and it takes 3 years to hit max pay. The biggest problem i have with this mclane is Payroll be messing up my paycheck all the time and shortening me on my overtime days. they forget to pay me overtime on my 5th day.3 weeks in a row.they shorten me on the hours i worked. My co workers started catching up to it and so did I. I wasnt the only one. most of us now have to write down the times we clock in and clock out so we verify that payroll didnt mess up.
they always have work for you. it never slows down. i dont have to deal with customers much. i have the keys to all the stores. mostly all automatics 99%. co workers are really nice people very funny characters lol. Benefits Start Day 1.
Paycheck always came up short. Constantly at the payroll office every week to check the hours i worked for the week if it matches what i wrote down on my paper. Really heavy work. Small Paychecks. Medical is expensive especially to cover a family. Almost $500
Was an o/o on their Freedom Board.West coast based company.Lots of freight in NW and Cali.Good rates going out but cheap coming back in.I was with them for 8 months.Ran 90% on west coast,WA, OR, CA, AZ, some UT, MT and NV.Averaged $1.30ish all miles.Bought an older truck, 2006, so non Cali compliant and felt without running Cali that rates weren't there.Overall an OK company....
Freedom of choosing your loads/lanes.Multiple terminal locations.60-70% Drop and Hook.
O/O seem to be of less importance than company drivers.Shops always too busy to work on O/O trucks.Practically impossible to get detention, layover, or TONU.Cheap broker freight.Can only book loads 72 hours out.
